Resisting the standard holiday home typology, Studio City offers micro bungalows (600 sq’) within the resort town of Lonavala. The raised structure preserves the open landscape at the ground level, while providing parking for the residences. The tapered edges of the structure affords outdoor terraces for the upper units while creating building contours which mimic the adjacent Sahyadri mountains. In a “Tetris” like formation, plans of three variations alternate throughout the form; creating individually within the massing of the structure while providing cross ventilation for each unit. Individually these homes would be lost amongst the multitude of oversized bungalows, however, together they construct a monolithic form within the natural landscape.
