This Guest House, located behind a typical Southern California bungalow, and within a conventional urban neighborhood grid, addresses the requirements of a growing family needing more space for guests. In this scenario, an existing garage is extended to accommodate these spatial requirements. Strict municipal regulations create unique compact spatial conditions which consolidate functions and activities. Opposing terraces extend the compact internal spaces, while providing cross ventilation across the interior. The existing garage is re-formed with the extension to achieve a congruent and autonomous form.
